I haven’t written one of these in a while. Technically this would be the 3rd What Have I Been Playing posts, but the second one was hidden in my Switching Back To Linux post. The crazy thing is that not a whole lot has changed. So here’s what I’ve been playing over the past few many months. WARDOGS This has been my recent obsession and I kind of got bait-and-switched. During the play tests the game’s anti-cheat worked fine under Proton but at launch this was no longer the case, which REALLY sucks. I really really want to cut Windows out as much as possible. Luckily I only ever boot it to play a few games. But enough about that… WARDOGS. This game has been a real breath of fresh air for me lately. It’s kind of like a mix of Arma with Battlefield. Or I guess more accurately it’s Arma Light. Boiled down, there are 3 factions that are fighting for control of a single territory. It’s King of the Hill. 100 players. 3 teams. Buncha fun shit. Heli’s. Tanks. Urals to transport supplies between your home base and various player built “Forward Operating Bases” or “FOBs”. ...

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a few months now. I’ve started it a few times but always get distracted. Gotta love ADHD. Well, that and the fact that I have yet to stop messing with my configs. Idk why I do it, it’s like as soon as I have it set up the way I like it… I don’t like it anymore. Whatever, it’s good to be back. It’s definitely taken me too long. The reason that I wanted to switch back was pretty simple. I like using Linux. I don’t like Windows, and up until a few years ago, gaming on Linux wasn’t really a thing. There were some games that would run out of the box. But most games required some janky Wine work around or just flat out didn’t work, and it wasn’t really worth the time too much. I’ve always liked to have Linux on my lap tops but not always on my main gaming PC. But with the success of Proton and the Steam Deck, gaming on Linux became a whole lot easier. ...

About a month ago I decided to purchase a Steam Deck OLED. I’ve gotten into “Retro Handhelds” and other means of mobile gaming over the past few years but nothing was really powerful enough to play what I wanted to play. It started when I discovered the Miyoo Mini+ and kind of snowballed from there. After the MM+, I got an old model Anbernic RG35XX 1, then I got an Anbernic RG351P because I liked the idea of a device with a native GBA screen ratio. It’s also very pocketable and surprisingly comfortable to hold. After that I got an Anbernic RG35XX SP 2 because I always wanted a GBA SP growing up but for some reason my younger brother got one. Finally, after all that I bought an Anbernic RG406H because I wanted a device with a controller to play PokeMMO. Now, I know this is a lot of devices, but if you know me you know I tend to collect things. I mean, I have over 20 keyboards. But the reason I got these devices was because I started a job with a lot of downtime leaving me a lot of time to play games I haven’t really played before. Maybe I’ll make a post about all my different handhelds and whatnot. But this post is about what I’ve been playing recently. ...
